Bengaluru News: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has launched new guidelines to assist citizens who need to complete urgent property registrations in October 2024. These measures aim to help property owners quickly finalise their e-Khata.

These guidelines are part of BBMP’s efforts to streamline property management and improve transparency. Property records are now accessible online via the BBMP’s eAasthi portal at BBMPeAasthi.karnataka.gov.in.

The BBMP advises individuals with upcoming property registrations to follow a simplified process to obtain their final e-Khata. This can be done by visiting the BBMP e-Aasthi website and downloading the draft e-Khata specific to their ward. Property owners can find their ward name and number on their BBMP property tax receipt.

To start, owners should download their draft e-Khata from the ward-wise organised BBMP e-Aasthi portal. They will need their 10-digit BBMP Property Tax Application Number to complete the final e-Khata online. Aadhaar-based eKYC is mandatory for all property owners listed, but those without an Aadhaar card can verify their identity at the Assistant Revenue Officer (ARO) office using alternative IDs, such as passports, voter IDs or driving licences.

Additionally, property owners must upload their Registered Deed Number, which will be automatically fetched from the KAVERI system. An Encumbrance Certificate (EC) valid from the day before the deed registration until October 18, 2024, is also required. Owners should include a recent external photograph of the property and, while it's not mandatory for vacant land, they should provide their 10-digit BESCOM Account Number.

After submitting the necessary documents online, property owners should visit the ARO for verification. If everything is in order, the final e-Khata will be issued within one day. For those facing difficulties with the online process, help desks at the ARO office will assist in uploading documents and generating the final e-Khata.

The BBMP has asked citizens without urgent registrations to avoid visiting the ARO office unless specifically endorsed by the BBMP, allowing them to complete the e-Khata process online later without needing an Encumbrance Certificate.
