BESCOM October Electricity Bill: Customers noticing discrepancies or the absence of the government’s Gruha Jyothi scheme benefits in the October electricity bills need not worry, as the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) has provided clarifications over the errors. The BESCOM has also assured that efforts are being made to resolve the errors and ensure the proper application of scheme benefits.

BESCOM Explains Reasons Behind Errors In Electricity Bills

- BESCOM has clarified that the discrepancies seen in the October electricity bills are due to a major software upgrade by the energy department’s IT wing, the Times of India report stated.

- According to officials, the bills generated in the first half of October, which cover September usage, were not based on actual meter readings.

- The software upgrade has prevented meter readers from calculating bills using the actual monthly consumption data.

- Instead, electricity bills for the customers within the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) limits are being generated based on the average consumption recorded over the past three months.

- “Electricity bills for consumers in Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) limits will be generated based on average consumption of the past three months,” TOI quoted a BESCOM official as saying.

No Physical Meter Readings In Early October

BESCOM has confirmed that physical meter readings in the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) areas will not be conducted from October 1 to 15 due to the ongoing software upgrade.
However, the energy department has assured consumers that the current changes in electricity bills will not impact the government’s Gruha Jyothi Scheme benefits.
