Bengaluru Dry Day October 2: The Excise Department has announced a ban on sale of alcohol at shops, pubs, bars, and restaurants across Bengaluru on October 2, Thursday, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. The day also coincides with Dussehra, also known as Vijaydashmi, one of the most significant Hindu festivals in India.

Born in Gujarat in 1869, Mahatma Gandhi is considered the most influential Indian of his era as he shaped the country's freedom movement through truth and non-violence, winning worldwide following.

The sale of alcohol is strictly banned in all licensed outlets on dry days. The restrictions are applicable to both government and private license holders. Authorities have warned that public consumption of alcohol on dry days is a punishable offence.bengalurudryday

The dry day rule is in place to maintain the decorum of national holidays and religious festivals. The Excise Department has advised citizens to plan accordingly, as enforcement teams will carry out strict checks to ensure compliance. The Department has urged people, stakeholders to follow the rules and cooperate to ensure smooth implementation.
