Weather Alert: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rain across several regions of India during Dussehra (Vijayadashami) and Gandhi Jayanti. According to the latest forecast, rain activity is set to persist over North India in the coming days. Between October 1 and 6, light to moderate rainfall is expected in Sikkim, the hilly regions of West Bengal, and Bihar, with isolated heavy showers possible. Similar weather conditions are likely over West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, and both western and eastern Madhya Pradesh from October 1 to 4. Some parts of these regions may witness heavy rainfall between October 2 and 5.
According to the latest IMD bulletin, isolated rain is likely over northwest India till October 4, followed by widespread rain with thunderstorms and lightning from October 5 to 7.
North India Weather
Heavy rain is expected over eastern Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, western Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh from October 3 to 6, while very heavy rain is expected over eastern Uttar Pradesh on October 4 and 5, Punjab and Haryana on October 6, and Uttarakhand on October 6 and 7. Hailstorms are also expected over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand on October 5 and 6, and Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh on October 6.
Delhi-NCR Weather Today
Delhi-NCR will remain mostly cloudy on Thursday. Light rain or drizzle is expected. According to IMD, the maximum temperature is expected to hover between 33-35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will be around 24-26 degrees Celsius.
Thursday morning will be partly cloudy with light winds. Light rain or thundershowers are possible by afternoon or evening. Wind speeds are expected to be around 8-12 km/h, increasing to 15 km/h in the afternoon. There will be a slight drop in temperatures.
The IMD stated that similar conditions are likely to persist for the next 1-2 days, with a drop of 3-6 degrees in minimum temperatures and a slight decrease in maximum temperatures. The weather is expected to change from October 4 due to the influence of a northwest disturbance.
Punjab Weather
Rain accompanied by strong winds lashed Punjab’s Jalandhar on Dussehra. The effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakaran, and Meghnath which were installed on Wednesday night at various grounds across the city, have been soaked in rain, jagran.com reported. The effigies set up at Sai Das School ground in Patel Chowk were also drenched. In response, a team of administrators has reached the site to assess the situation.

Bihar Weather
Heavy rainfall is likely over Bihar from October 3 to 5. Very heavy rainfall is also expected over Odisha on October 2. Additionally, thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds reaching 40-50 kmph are likely over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands for 1-2 days.
Winds may blow at a speed of 30-40 kmph in Bihar for the next seven days, and in West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha for the next five days.
Haryana Weather
There is a rain alert in 12 districts of Haryana on October 2. These include Yamunanagar, Karnal, Panipat, Sonipat, Jhajjar, Charkhi Dadri, Mahendragarh, Rewari, Gurugram, Nuh, Palwal, and Faridabad. According to IMD, northwesterly winds will begin blowing from October 7. This will lead to a drop in temperature.. Additionally, a western disturbance will become active in Haryana from October 4 causing rain in the state.
Maharashtra And Gujarat Weather
On October 2, light to moderate rain with isolated heavy rain and thunderstorms is expected over West India. Heavy rain is also expected over the Ghat regions of Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada on October 4.
