Bengaluru Uber Protest: A group of cab drivers staged a massive protest outside Uber's driver centre in Bengaluru for alleged unfair treatment by the firm. The protesting drivers claimed that Uber treats fleet drivers differently from the independent drivers, severely affecting their earning potential. While protesting under the banner of the Bharath Transportation Group (BTG), they also claimed that the local drivers are suffering because the firm was hiring drivers from the other states.

As the protest intensified, some of the protestors also tried to break into the office, leading to chaos at the site, reported PTI. However, the situation did not escalate as the police arrived at the scene and barred the protestors from entering the office. The police, while providing details, stated that some of the protestors tried to break into the office; however, the situation was brought under control. They also informed that a probe has been ordered to identify the miscreants.

It stated that the policy was designed to ensure transparency and equal opportunity for all, adding that Uber treats all the drivers the same. Apart from this, the firm also criticised the protestors for an attempt to break into the office.

We also categorically deny any allegation of differential treatment between fleet drivers and independent drivers - our policies are designed to ensure fairness, transparency, and equal opportunity for all, regardless of their operational model," Uber stated.
