Bengaluru News: Four manager-level staff members of a private firm in Bengaluru were rescued on Saturday after a group of men allegedly kidnapped them from Koramangala by posing as police officers. Eight suspects have been arrested.

According to a Mathrubhumi report, the incident took place around 1 AM when the gang arrived at the office of Global Telecom Connect Pvt. Ltd., a BPO company. The men introduced themselves as policemen and asked the employees Pawan, Rajveer, Akash and Anas to step outside. Police said the victims were then threatened and forced into a Toyota Innova and a WagonR before being taken away.

Investigators found that the kidnappers first demanded Rs 25 lakh. The victims were pressured to transfer about Rs 8.90 lakh from their operations manager’s account to four bank accounts linked to the accused. Some reports indicate the total amount transferred could be as high as Rs 18.90 lakh. Even after the transaction, the gang continued to demand cash.

Colleagues raised an alarm after noticing the four missing and informed police around 4:30 AM. The digital trail of the transferred money helped officers identify the suspects. Four police teams were deployed, and by 11 AM, officers traced the group to a lodge in Hoskote, where all four employees were found safe.

A case has been filed at the Koramangala police station and further inquiry is under way.
