Bengaluru News: A 19-year-old college student reportedly died by suicide at her residence in Bengaluru’s Rajajinagar, as confirmed by local police officials. Priyanka was found hanging from the balcony of her house on November 29, the Deccan Herald reported citing police.
According to the police, Priyanka left a note behind her in which she accused her college mate, Diganth, of cheating her out of Rs 15 lakh worth of gold ornaments under the pretext of investments.
The FIR mentioned that Diganth persuaded Priyanka to invest in casinos, taking her gold ornaments in the process. Despite her several requests, he failed to return the valuables.
Based on a complaint filed by Bharath Kumar, the Rajajinagar police have registered a case under Section 108 of the Indian Penal Code (abetment of suicide) and have initiated an investigation.

In another incident, a resident of Karnataka fell victim to an online scam, losing Rs 1.7 crore, with fraudsters posing as officials from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). The scam began on November 11 when the victim received a call from an unidentified number. The caller, who claimed to be from TRAI, informed the victim that a mobile number registered under his name was being used for illegal activities in Mumbai’s Andheri East.
Recently, a retired Air Force official from Haryana’s Faridabad was duped out of Rs 5 lakh by fraudsters who posed as officials from TRAI and the CBI. The scammers deceived the victim, identified as 55-year-old Aditya Kumar Jha by informing him that he had been placed under ‘digital arrest’ for 55 hours. Jha, who now works as a clerk at Punjab National Bank, fell prey to the scheme.
