The Bengaluru Hebbal Flyover loop, which was launched and dedicated to common people on Monday, created traffic snarls after it was launched during morning peak hours on weekdays. Residents set social media ablaze, targeting the Chief Minister of Karnataka for choosing busy time to inaugurate flyover after a long weekend. 

An anticipated celebratory moment for traffic-weary Bengaluru residents turned into reason for frustration and backlash against CM Siddaraimaiah.

Bengaluru residents and many others accused CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar of poor planning and disregard for public convenience after they chose to inaugurate flyover loop on Monday morning, peak office hours after a long weekend. 

Instead of becoming a reason for applause for the state government, the ceremonial event garnered sharp reactions from commuters as it led to the massive traffic jams stretching over several kilometres.

BJP MP Tejasvi Surya, who was also caught into the gridlock, slammed the state government for the choice of time, Surya in an X post, wrote “Hebbal Road was a nightmare this morning. On my way to Delhi this morning to attend Parliament, I was stuck at Hebbal Junction for nearly 50 minutes along with thousands of people and almost missed my flight. All because the state government chose a Monday morning peak hours as the appropriate time for the flyover inauguration program.”

Expressing frustration over the several hour long traffic jam, another post read, “CM @siddaramaiah decided that a Monday morning—right after a long weekend—was the perfect time to inaugurate part of a flyover expansion at the city’s busiest junction. Pure genius. Yes I’m being f sarcastic.”

A comment replying to this post stated, “The traffic was crazy. That flyover loop which he is opening was already open for public on the weekend. They closed it today so that he can open! He is opening an already opened flyover loop. It took 30min instead of 2min to pass hebbal flyover that too at 7:45AM!”
