Bengaluru News: Pro-Kannada activists demonstrated in front of the GT World Mall on Wednesday morning on Magadi Road following reports that a farmer dressed in 'dhoti' had been denied entry. On Wednesday evening, Phakeerappa, a farmer, went to the mall with his son to watch a movie while he was dressed in a panche, or dhoti. The security personnel told the farmer that he could not enter while wearing a "dhoti," and that he would have to change into pants.

“The security told us that they couldn’t allow it because my father was wearing a panche,” the farmer's son Nagaraj told the media. "We were told to wear trousers and gain entry."

Pro-Kannada and pro-farmer groups have expressed anger over the occurrence and are calling for action. Farmer leader Kuruburu Shanthakumar sought an apology from mall management and threatened large protests if his demands were not granted. He stated that the Bengaluru police must take harsh action against the mall owner immediately. He asked if they could manage the mall without farmers. If the mall owners were consuming food, they would not have behaved in this manner.

"Farmers are the backbone of the country," he said.

A farmer said, "A farmer had arrived here, he was wearing a 'dhoti'. So, the security guard didn't let him inside. So, we are protesting here..."

Meanwhile, Karnataka Congress MLA NA Haris reacted to the incident and condemned it. He said, "This is unacceptable. Dhoti is our traditional dress. We will tell govt to take action."
