In a shocking incident, an employee of the tech firm Infosys has been arrested after being allegedly caught filming a female colleague in a washroom on the company campus, as per the TOI report.
The 35-year-old victim, working as a Technical Test Lead, filed a complaint alleging the incident took place on June 30 at the firm's Electronic City office.
She alleged that she noticed a reflection on the door while using the women's restroom. She later observed a mobile phone from an adjacent cubicle.
She climbed the commode to probe the object and saw a man standing on the commode in the neighbouring stall, filming her. The victim alleged that the man had removed his trousers during the incident.
Soon after seeing the man, the victim ran outside the washroom and alerted her colleagues. Her colleagues came to the spot and caught the accused.
The accused has been identified as Swapnil Nagesh Mali. He is a Senior Associate Consultant with Infosys and has joined the tech firm some three months ago.
According to a report by India Today, the matter was reported to the Infosys HR department, which intervened to check the accused's phone. Upon checking, over 30 videos of different women were found recorded. Reportedly, the company tried to settle the issue internally, asking the accused to apologise despite the severity of the matter.
However, the victim's husband confronted the company, after which the matter escalated, and the victim filed a formal complaint at the Electronic City police station.
As the investigation continues, a case under Section 77 (voyeurism) of the BNS and relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act has been registered.
