Bengaluru News: A tragic incident caught on CCTV has once again raised concerns over public apathy in Bengaluru after a man suffering a heart attack died on the road while people around failed to help. The incident took place near Kaderanahalli as the victim, Venkataramana, was being taken to Jayadeva Hospital by his wife on a two-wheeler.

Venkataramana collapsed on the road after his condition worsened during the journey. His wife, Roopa, has alleged that timely help from even one passerby could have saved his life.

Chest Pain And Hospital Hopping

The Times Now report cited officials as stating that, the 34-year-old mechanic developed severe chest pain around 3.30 AM at his home in Balaji Nagar in south Bengaluru. He had reportedly suffered a minor heart attack earlier, and his condition deteriorated quickly.

Roopa said she first took her husband to a nearby hospital, where doctors advised her to shift him immediately to Jayadeva Hospital for specialised cardiac care. However, she alleged that no ambulance was arranged.

With no other option, the couple travelled on a motorcycle, with Roopa riding. They visited another private hospital, where an ECG confirmed a mild heart attack. The family claimed that emergency treatment was not started and no ambulance was provided. They were again advised to go to Jayadeva Hospital.

Accident And Desperate Pleas For Help

While travelling, Venkataramana’s condition worsened and their bike collided with another vehicle. Both fell on the road and he collapsed, bleeding and struggling to breathe. CCTV footage shows Roopa pleading with folded hands for help for nearly 15 minutes, as cars, a tempo and a motorcycle passed by without stopping.

Eventually, a cab driver came forward and helped rush him to a nearby hospital. Doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Family Left Devastated

Roopa said, “If even one person had helped in time, he would be alive.” Venkataramana is survived by his wife, a five-year-old son and an 18-month-old daughter. His mother also lost her only surviving child, having already lost her other five children earlier.

Final Act Of Compassion

Despite the devastating loss, the family chose to donate Venkataramana’s eyes, allowing others to gain sight. Roopa appealed to the public to show basic humanity in emergencies, saying small acts of help can make the difference between life and death.
