Bengaluru News: A 39-year-old man, Mohammed Nasim, has been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife after her decomposed body was discovered in a drain on the outskirts of the city. The police apprehended Nasim in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, where he had fled with his children after the incident.

The incident, which occurred on November 11 within the Sarjapur police station limits. Officials reported that Nasim and his second wife, Rumesh Khatun, aged 22, had a strained relationship, often engaging in arguments over minor issues. Suspecting his wife of infidelity and motivated by personal conflicts, Nasim decided to kill her.

According to police, Nasim strangled Khatun, bound her hands and feet with wire and disposed of her body in a nearby drain. After committing the crime, he fled to Muzaffarpur with his six children, four from his first marriage and two with Khatun.

The body was discovered a week later when locals informed Bengaluru police of a foul smell coming from the drain. Upon recovery, the body was sent for a post-mortem examination. During the investigation, police stated that Nasim was missing and had absconded with his children.

Using technical evidence and mobile phone tracking, investigators were able to locate Nasim in Muzaffarpur. According to a NDTV report, he had married for a third time shortly after fleeing. A case was registered against him and he was arrested last week.

In separate news, Bengaluru Police arrested 37-year-old delivery executive Srikrishna for vandalising the bust of Lingayat seer Shri Shivakumar Swami on November 30. He claimed to be inspired by a dream of Jesus Christ. The Archbishop condemned the incident, calling the accused’s statements baseless and urged for a thorough investigation. Srikrishna was remanded in custody and police are assessing his mental health in connection with the crime.
