A man in Bengaluru was fired from his job for threatening a woman with an acid attack over her choice of clothes. Nikhil Shetty, a former employee of Etios Services, allegedly threatened a woman for not wearing certain clothes. The woman's husband, who is a journalist had requested the officials to take action in the case, labeling it "serious".
Journalist Shahbaz Ansar took to X to narrate the incident and sought immediate action against the accused.
He wrote on X, "This person is threatening to throw acid on my wife's face for her choice of clothes. Please take immediate action against this person to prevent any incident from happening."
The post by Shahbaz led to a massive outrage on the social media platform, where the netizens heavily criticised the accused. The users labeled him as a person with a narrow mindset and an evil for society.
Following the criticism on the social media, the company where he worked informed that Nikhil Shetty was fired and a case was registered against him.
"We are deeply saddened to address a serious incident involving one of our employees, Nikith Shetty, who made a threatening statement regarding another individual's choice of clothing. This behavior is absolutely unacceptable and goes against the core values we uphold at Etios Services," the company said.

The company further stated, "As a company committed to fostering a safe and respectful environment, we have taken immediate action. Nikith's employment has been terminated for a period of five years, and we have filed a case against him to ensure accountability for his actions."
Several users, including Shahbaz Ansar, thanked the company upon the action against Nikhil Shetty.
"The man who threatened my wife Khyati Shree with an acid attack lost his job. The company acted promptly and fired him. Thanks to everyone who made this happen," he said.
The crimes related to acid attacks or attacks using similar substances are addressed under Section 124 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The section imposes penalties like life imprisonment.
