BMRCL Metro Phase 3: As part of Namma metro Phase 3 expansion initiative, the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) decided to introduce a new double-decker metro line. Following the completion of the double-decker flyover between Ragigudda and Silk Board, BMRCL is expected to commence work on this new line, which will be developed in multiple phases to enhance key corridors throughout the city.

According to the latest update, BMRCL has initiated the tender process for the design of the metro infrastructure in Phase 3 line. This phase will involve the construction of double-decker flyovers along three major corridors, aimed at improving connectivity and reducing traffic congestion in Bengaluru.

The expansion will encompass several critical routes, including a significant segment from JP Nagar 4th Stage to Kempapura, alongside another major route extending from Hosahalli to Kadabagere. Additionally, double-decker elevated pathways will be built, complete with elevated metro stations, ramps, and road infrastructure, connecting Summanahalli Cross to Kadabagere and JP Nagar Station to the Nagarabhavi BDA Complex.

To facilitate the design and construction process, BMRCL has segmented the tender process into three phases. The development will also feature essential amenities such as a depot, a skywalk, and a multi-modal transport hub near Peenya and Summanahalli, improving connectivity across various transport options in these areas.

In August, the central government approved Phase 3, granting BMRCL authorization to further expand Bengaluru's metro network. The central government will fund the construction of the central metro line, while the state government will finance the double-decker flyovers.

BMRCL has already begun the land acquisition process for this third phase, which spans 44.65 kilometers. Approximately 299 properties have been identified for acquisition along the proposed routes, marking a significant milestone in Bengaluru's metro expansion to meet the city's increasing transportation needs.
