Bengaluru Metro Update: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) has announced that the upcoming Namma Metro blue line will have a dedicated luggage rack for the people. This will make travel easier and more convenient for commuters going towards the Kempegowda International Airport.
To cater to the needs of air travelers, BMRCL officials have revealed that all coaches on this metro line will feature specially designed luggage racks at both ends, as reported by The Hindu.
“Since this line is primarily meant to serve the airport, we are ensuring that passengers can comfortably carry their luggage. Each coach will have racks installed at both ends, replacing two seats, so that travellers with large bags do not face inconvenience during their journey. The racks would allow passengers to stow big suitcases in a secure and accessible space,” said a senior BMRCL official.
Currently, Bengaluru Metro does not provide a dedicated area for carrying luggage. Passengers are allowed to bring one bag free of charge, provided it does not exceed the dimensions of 60 x 45 x 25 centimeters and weighs within 15 kg.
Larger or additional bags incur a fee of Rs 30, and violations of these guidelines can result in fines of up to Rs 250. The planned installation of luggage racks is expected to ease these limitations, offering greater convenience for air travelers who often carry heavier or multiple pieces of baggage.
