Exciting news for Bengaluru commuters! The much-anticipated Namma Metro Yellow Line is scheduled to commence operations in late January 2025, significantly improving connections in the city's southern industrial and residential districts. This development will significantly simplify travel for inhabitants. The Rs 5,745-crore project runs 19.15 kilometres, from RV Road to Bommasandra, and will have around 16 stations. Jayadeva Hospital, BTM Layout, Silk Board Junction, and Electronics City would be major stops on the line.
Notably, the Jayadeva Hospital station, will act as an interchange hub and become India's tallest metro station at 39 meters, is going to be a prominent feature of the Yellow Line. This six-level construction will feature an underpass, road, flyover, Yellow Line platform, concourse and Pink Line platform, making commuting much more convenient. In addition, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has stated that three trains will be available during the initial phase, with services operating at 30-minute intervals.

The Namma Metro Yellow Line will additionally feature modern, driverless trains equipped with advanced technical systems for signalling, traction, and braking. The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) will conduct safety checks in January to ensure that the system is suitable for public introduction.
Furthermore, three trains will be available during the initial phase, at 30-minute intervals. One train set is planned to arrive in December, followed by another in January. The whole fleet will consist of 36 trains, with 15 six-coach trains arriving by August 2025, guaranteeing easier operations in the coming months.
One of the contracted trains will be imported from China, while the remaining trains will be manufactured in West Bengal. While the Yellow Line will start with a limited fleet, services will expand as more trains become available.
Although the Namma Metro Yellow Line offers improved connection, there are still worries about the Bommasandra station. The lack of a pedestrian lane has sparked criticism, and BMRCL is under pressure to address accessibility difficulties for commuters travelling to Jigani, Bommasandra, Chandapura, and Attibele.
