A video posted by a migrant commuter, complaining about a bus conductor's behaviour in Bengaluru, has triggered a storm online with several users blaming the commuter. A migrant commuter, accusing the bus conductor of misbehaving, posted a video on the social media platform X. The commuter, Aditya Raj Agarwal, accused the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation BMTC staff of verbal and physical assault after he asked why the bus did not stop at the halt shown on Google map.

He claimed that the argument began when Google Maps showed a stop where the driver allegedly refused to halt. Agarwal said the conductor started abusing him after he questioned the driver. He also alleged that he was criticised for his inability to speak Kannada.

“The driver starts verbally (and then physically) assaults customers and even states not knowing Kannada as a reason,” Agarwal wrote as he posted the clip.

But the reaction in the comment section was different from usual, as several Kanndigas and Bengalureans not just defended the bus conductor but also accused the complainant of playing the ‘Hindi victim card’.

A user wrote, “It’s a Vayu Vajra bus, it will not stop at 100 stops. Don’t play your Hindi victim card despite the driver repeating that he isn’t comfortable in your language.”

Another user argued, “You can clearly see both the driver and conductor are not comfortable speaking in Hindi and are trying to explain their best as to why there is no stop. But this man is continuously harassing them, asking them to come to the police station. Why should they? Are they criminals? They are people with families just like all of us.”

While the video posted by Aditya could not be found on X, several users accused him of being a Kannada hater by sharing screenshots of his old X posts. One user, sharing his old posts criticising the Kannada language, wrote “This guy has got hatred for Kannada… don’t try to appease these kinda people… stop prosecuting bmtc driver and conductor”
