Namma Metro Blue Line Update: In a major update for the commuters, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has reportedly assured that the operation on the first phase of the Blue Line will commence by December 2026. The metro corridor will connect Central Silk Board to Kempegowda International Airport and will pass through several key regions of Bengaluru. The metro route will provide significant relief to thousands of commuters by cutting the travel time and reducing travel time. Earlier last week, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) stated that the project is not likely to miss the deadline, adding that the contractors have been directed to complete the project on time.

Earlier on Friday, Shivakumar stated that the stretch between Central Silk Board and KR Pura will open by the end of 2026, adding that the second phase is likely to open in mid-2027. The deputy chief minister also stated that the project will be completed on time, adding that the contractors will not be considered for other projects if they miss the deadline, reported the Times of India.

The Blue Line will significantly boost the connectivity of the city by connecting the busiest regions of the city to the residential clusters. The whole project is divided into three parts: Silk Board–KR Pura, KR Pura–Hebbal, and Hebbal–Airport. The much-awaited metro line will provide convenience to thousands of commuters by connecting the IT hubs to the airport.
