Bengaluru Namma Metro Update: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) on Tuesday announced the preliminary works on Phase 3A are likely to commence in the upcoming months. The ambitious project will boost the regional connectivity by connecting Sarjapur in the southeast to Hebbal in the north via the city centre. The metro line is likely to provide convenience to thousands of commuters by significantly cutting the travel time and reducing the traffic congestion. Apart from this, the metro line will also improve the financial activities in the region as it will pass through the key regions of Bengaluru.
The authority stated that it has floated tenders of Rs 6.86 crore to carry out geotechnical investigations in multiple packages. The BMRCL stated that November 3 is the last date for the contractors to submit the bids, adding that they will have a total of 150 days to complete the work. The authority further stated that while the union government has not approved the line yet, the state government's approval has allowed them to begin with preliminary works such as geotechnical investigations and utility identification.

The BMRCL stated that the geotechnical investigation is the initial step for building any metro line, adding that it involves several steps, such as examining the physical properties of soil and rocks. The examining of the physical properties determines the depth and design of the foundations.
Earlier last month, the authority stated that several expansion projects will be announced in the upcoming months to boost the regional connectivity. Apart from this, the authority also stated that the upcoming Namma Metro blue line will have a dedicated luggage rack for the people.
This will make travel easier and more convenient for commuters going toward Kempegowda International Airport. Currently, Bengaluru Metro does not provide a dedicated area for carrying luggage. Passengers are allowed to bring one bag free of charge, provided it does not exceed the dimensions of 60 x 45 x 25 centimeters and weighs within 15 kg.
