Bengaluru Namma Metro: Metro commuters in Bengaluru planning to travel on the Purple Line this Sunday, July 6, should take note: there will be no metro services between Indiranagar and Baiyappanahalli stations including Swami Vivekananda Station from 7 am to 8 am, according to the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL). The temporary suspension is due to essential maintenance work. Services on the affected stretch will resume at 8 am, while metro operations on all other routes will run as per the regular Sunday schedule.

In a statement, BMRCL said, “To facilitate these works, metro train services will be temporarily curtailed between Indiranagar and Baiyappanahalli stations. BMRCL will resume normal services on this entire section from 08:00 AM onwards.” Commuters are advised to plan accordingly, and the authority has apologised for the inconvenience caused.

All other Purple Line services such as Challaghatta to Indiranagar, Baiyappanahalli to Whitefield (Kadugodi), and Madavara to Silk Institute will continue unaffected from 7 am.

Bengaluru Namma Metro: Yellow Line Opening Expected in Early August

Meanwhile, Bengaluru's much-awaited Yellow Line, which connects RV Road to Bommasandra, is likely to become operational in early August, as reported by Deccan Herald. The 19.15-km corridor will link key transit points such as Jayadeva Hospital, Silk Board Junction, and Electronics City, significantly improving connectivity for daily office commuters.

The delay in opening has been attributed mainly to two reasons: a shortage of trains and the pending Independent Safety Assessment (ISA) clearance required for the line’s automated, driverless trains. At present, only three trains are ready for operation.

Once launched, the Yellow Line will serve 16 stations, with trains initially expected to run at intervals of 25 minutes. Regular frequency will be improved as more trains become available.
