Bengaluru Namma Metro Update: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limted (BMRCL) Managing Director M Maheshwar Rao on Wednesday stated that the operation of the much-awaited Yellow Line is likely to significantly increase the ridership of the Namma Metro. While speaking at an event, Rao emphasised the ridership will increase to almost 14 lakhs in the upcoming months. He also acknowledged that the metro route got delayed several times, leading to disappointment among the commuters. However, he assured that the Yellow line will improve the regional connectivity in the Silicon city of India. Rao further stated that the Yellow line will provide convenience to the residents of several areas by cutting the travel time and reducing the traffic congestion.
Rao emphasised that while the operation on the Yellow line got delayed multiple times, the services are likely to begin in August. "Last year when I joined, I had promised that we would start the Yellow Line in four months. I think I'm very horribly wrong there. By August, we should be able to start operations and we are very, very confident," Rao was quoted as saying by the Deccan Herald.
