Meat Sale Ban In MP, UP
This ban follows similar actions in other regions. The Maihar district in Madhya Pradesh had already restricted the sale and purchase of meat, fish and eggs within the Maihar Nagar Palika limits during the Navratri festival, running from March 30 to April 7. Additionally, Varanasi's Municipal Corporation announced that all meat shops would remain closed throughout the Navratri festival, a decision supported by awareness campaigns and enforcement efforts.
Ram Navami 2025
These restrictions are in place as part of the Chaitra Navratri celebrations, which began on March 30. Navratri, meaning 'nine nights' in Sanskrit, is dedicated to the worship of Goddess Durga and her nine avatars, collectively known as Navdurga. The festival culminates on Rama Navami, marking the birth of Lord Ram.
