Karnataka Police have initiated an investigation into a case involving allegations of 'love jihad' and sexual exploitation that was reported on social media by a woman, according to officials on Thursday. The report originated from the account of 'Gupta Bharat@artiniart1' on X (formerly Twitter). The post read, "I am a victim of love jihad, rape, unnatural sex, and forced religious conversion. Please provide me with immediate police assistance in Bengaluru, as my life is in danger."
The post was addressed to the Bengaluru Police, the Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP), and the Prime Minister's Office. In response, Bengaluru Police asked the victim to provide her residential address details so they could forward her complaint to the relevant police officers for necessary action.
In a subsequent post on Thursday, the victim expressed gratitude to the DCP, Whitefield, in Bengaluru, stating, "Thank you, I am in contact with the police inspector, and he is prioritising my FIR. I am assured of the safety of my family and myself."

The victim emphasised that she did not seek media involvement, as the police were handling the situation effectively. Earlier, the victim had tagged Nazia Elahi Khan, a BJP minority leader and state committee member, in multiple posts, seeking assistance in her case related to 'love jihad'. She mentioned that a Kashmiri man, who had initially befriended her on Facebook, had taken money from her. He was now threatening her when she asked for the money back. The man had gained her trust with the intention of marriage but kept requesting money from her.
On November 17, 2022, the victim also posted a message to the then Bengaluru Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao, who is presently a BJP leader, asking for help. In her post, she mentioned, "Will you help? If I tell you that a Hindu girl was promised marriage and then abandoned by a Kashmiri Muslim guy."
The Bellandur police jurisdiction has commenced the investigation of this case, but further details are awaited. As of now, the police have not issued an official statement regarding the case.
