Bengaluru Weather: Heavy rain in Bengaluru over the past 48 hours has thrown daily life out of gear, with waterlogging reported in several parts of the city. Many areas, especially low-lying localities, were flooded, forcing rescue teams to use boats to reach stranded residents on Monday morning. The Horamavu region was among the worst affected.
The downpour led to severe flooding in areas like Sai Layout in Vidyaranyapura. Water levels rose to knee height in front of many houses and visuals showed residents wading through flooded streets with their belongings. Boats were used to check on the situation and help residents in the most affected spots.

Bengaluru ORR Waterlogging
Bengaluru’s Outer Ring Road corridor, home to several tech companies, also saw flooding. One of the most striking images came from Manyata Tech Park, which looked more like a shallow lake on Monday. Standing water near the entrance crossed two feet in some places. The park's management said they were working with civic agencies to pump out the water. Social media was filled with posts criticising the government and questioning Bengaluru’s urban planning.
Bengaluru Rain Causes Traffic Jam
In areas like Nagawara, Silk Board, Panathur RUB and New BEL Road, waterlogging caused long traffic jams. Many vehicles broke down and some were partially submerged. Public transport services were also delayed. In several homes, water entered living spaces, damaging furniture and electronics. Affected families were temporarily shifted to safer locations.
Just one normal rain and our Bengaluru turns into a swimming pool but our Karnataka government is more interested in tunnel roads, dismantling BBMP, and Tumkur Metro extensions instead of fixing these issues.

Bengaluru MLA Visits Affected Areas
Local MLA B Basavraj visited Sai Layout on a JCB on Monday to assess the damage. He spoke with residents and took note of their concerns, as rescue and civic teams continued work in the area.
