In a shocking incident, a 72-year-old man identified as Velayudhan, was allegedly killed by his 42-year-old son following an argument on Saturday night in Bannerghatta, on the southern outskirts of Bengaluru. The man suggested his son wear a dhoti instead of shorts near Bannerghatta on the southern outskirts of the city.

The preliminary investigation into the matter suggested that the man identified as Vinod Kumar returned home intoxicated on Saturday night and got into a heated argument with his father, Velayudhan, over wearing a lungi.

The argument between father and son escalated, leading to Kumar assaulting and kicking his father. The police said that Vinod smashed his father's head against a wall when he was sitting on a cot on Saturday night, pushed him to the floor and kicked him more than 10 times, causing his death, as reported by Times Of India.

The younger brother of Vinod Kumar, Vimal Kumar said that Vinod also attacked his father with a knife. "My brother is an alcoholic and would get my father drunk almost every day. He did the same on Saturday night too. My father suggested to Vinod to wear a panche instead of small shorts. He assaulted my father badly and later slit his neck and killed him,” Vimal was quoted as saying by TOI.

Meanwhile, the police said that there was no stab injury on the neck of the deceased, but Velayudhan died following the brutal assault by Vinod, who fled the spot after committing the crime. The police later arrested him. A suo motu case of murder has been registered, and the investigation is in progress.
