In a tragic incident, a Bengaluru man allegedly set his wife and her parents on fire over a dispute. As per the investigation, the accused demanded a two-wheeler from his wife, which she refused.

The accused, identified as 32-year-old Panduranga, a resident of Nandini Layout, was arrested on Sunday. Police have registered a case under Sections 109 (attempt to murder) and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

According to police, the incident took place at the residence of the victim, Sumalatha (27), who works as a domestic help. She was living with her parents in Tarabanahalli. Panduranga allegedly went to her house and demanded that she hand over her scooter to him.

When Sumalatha refused, an argument broke out between the two. Her parents intervened during the dispute, which further escalated the situation.

Police said that in a fit of rage, the accused allegedly poured petrol on Sumalatha and her parents from a bottle and set them on fire. He then fled the scene.

Neighbours rushed the three injured victims to a hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment, a senior police officer said.
