In a shocking incident, a man was tied up by her girlfriend and was set ablaze using kerosene in Karnataka's Bengaluru. The incident that shocked the city took place under the Byadarahalli police station limits. The investigators have termed it a premeditated murder as the accused suspected that the victim was distancing himself from her.

The investigation so far has revealed that the girl tied him up under the pretext of a "western-style proposal." The police have identified the victim as Kiran and the accused as Prema. The police said that both were in a relationship and worked at a mobile store in Rajajinagar.

The victim visited the residence of Prema on the day of the incident after she called her, saying that no one else was home. Everything was normal between them until recently, when tensions started.

Kiran allegedly started avowing to Prema, which the police suspected became the flashpoint in their relationship. According to a news report by News18, citing sources, the woman allegedly asked Kiran to partially undress him, after which she tied his hands and legs with a rope.

She told him that she wanted to make a dramatic, "Western-style proposal" and that the act was a part of the proposal ritual.

As she tied him up, Kiran asked why the ropes were being tightened so firmly; To which she allegedly reassured him, saying it was part of the proposal.

Within moments, she poured kerosene on him and set him ablaze. The police suspect that she even recorded the incident on her mobile phone.

The police have said that Kiran reached Prema's residence on his bike with a bag, and he had no petrol or kerosene container, which brought Prema under suspicion.
