Bengaluru News: A 40-year-old woman was stabbed to death near Pillanna Garden in north Bengaluru’s K G Halli on Friday, allegedly by a man she was in a relationship with. Police said the attack occurred after the woman urged him to marry her, leading to a heated argument.

According to investigators, the victim, a divorcee working as a domestic help, had been in a relationship with the accused, a 43-year-old married man. The two had been meeting secretly for several months, but their relationship became strained when the woman began insisting that he leave his wife and marry her, which he reportedly refused.

On Friday, the accused called her to meet near Pillanna Garden under the pretext of discussing their differences. However, the meeting quickly turned violent. During the argument, the man allegedly took out a knife and stabbed her multiple times before fleeing the spot, police said.

Locals who witnessed the assault rushed the severely injured woman to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared her dead shortly after admission.

The K G Halli police launched a manhunt and later arrested the accused. A case of murder has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Officials said investigations are ongoing to confirm the motive and reconstruct the events leading up to the crime.

Police added that further details will be released once questioning of the accused is complete.

In separate news, a woman in Bengaluru has been arrested for allegedly killing a pet dog by slamming it onto the floor inside an apartment lift, police said. The incident, which occurred on November 1, was caught on CCTV. The accused, identified as Pushpalatha, had been employed to care for the four-year-old dog named Goofy. The pet’s owner grew suspicious after its sudden death and reviewed the footage, revealing the brutal act. A case was registered under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Bagalur Police Station. Pushpalatha was arrested on Sunday.
