Bengaluru News: A shop owner and aide has been arrested by the Bengaluru police for hitting a woman over allegations of stealing sarees worth 90,000 rupees. The arrest was made after the video of the assault went viral on Social Media.
The woman named Humpumma visited a saree shop at Bengaluru's Avenue Road and stole a bunch of sarees, which are claimed to be worth Rs 90,000. While she stole sarees, the act was recorded on the CCTV of the shop, said police.

The accused tried stealing a bundle of sarees, and after several attempts, she eventually managed to take the bundle outside the shop. However, she was caught red-handed when she returned to the shop to steal another bundle of sarees.
In a fit of anger, the shopkeeper dragged the woman onto the road and subjected her to repeated slaps and kicks before turning her over to the police.

The shopkeepers and locals standing nearby captured the entire incident on their phones. Police said two separate cases have been registered, one for theft against the woman and another for assault against the shopkeeper and his assistant.
All three involved in the incident have been arrested and sent to judicial custody.
