Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has approached the Karnataka High Court after the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) on July 1 observed that the franchise are "prima facie responsible" for the incident which led to the death of 11 people near Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

On June 4, roughly 2.5 lakh fans thronged MG Road and Cubbon Road areas near the stadium after RCB announced a victory parade from the Vidhana Soudha and a fan engagement programme at the stadium to celebrate the team's maiden IPL triumph.

“The RCB did not take the appropriate permission or consent from the police. Suddenly, they posted on social media platforms and as a result of aforesaid information the public were gathered,” the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) said in its recent order.

"Suddenly, the RCB created the aforesaid type of nuisance without any prior permission," the CAT further said.

CAT issued an order, quashing the suspension of the IPS officer Vikash Kumar Vikash, who was suspended as part of a punitive measure taken after the Bengaluru stampede. The state government had suspended Vikash, Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda and senior police officer Shekar H Tekkannavar on June 5.

Bengaluru Stampede: CAT Says Police Are Not God Or Magician

The CAT said that the police are neither ‘God’ nor ‘magician’ to handle such a huge crowd on short notice.

"Police personnel are also human beings. They are neither 'God' nor magicians. They do not have the magic powers like 'Alladin ka Chirag' (Alladin's lamp) that they can fulfil any wish by rubbing a finger," CAT order read.
