Bengaluru Traffic News: A post on X has triggered fresh discussion on the contrasting traffic conditions in Bengaluru’s eastern and western parts. The viral post, shared on Friday, showed screenshots from Google Maps. While East Bengaluru appeared in deep red, signalling heavy congestion, West Bengaluru was shown green, reflecting smooth traffic flow.
The post quickly resonated with daily commuters, many of whom face severe traffic jams in areas such as Whitefield, KR Puram and Marathahalli. In contrast, those driving through Rajajinagar, Vijayanagar and Kengeri noted relatively free-flowing roads. The comparison revived a long-running debate over uneven infrastructure growth in the city.

What X Users Said
Several users shared their reactions online, pointing to the causes behind the divide. One user wrote, “Yeah, because people are traveling west to east.” Another added, “Kengeri was much worse before they extended the metro. It’s so much better now. Clearly shows that public transit is the only way through.”
A third comment read, “I think it’s great if new startup’s and companies coming to Bangalore will set up offices near airport areas.!! ORR and Whitefield ares are over crowded. KIA road is the answer.!!”
Another one wrote, “West - Grid layouts & roads. Many sub arterial & inner roads. Good ridership in BMTC. East - disjointed areas. Lack of inner roads, every vehicle has to use the same major roads.”
One more post noted, “The West BLR areas are mostly residential areas. There are quite a few good planned BDA areas like Nagarbhavi, Kengeri, Ullal. Vijayanagar. On the other hand East BLR is a tech hub.” And in a lighter tone, another wrote, “Bangalore West is Bangalore’s best kept secret. Let’s keep it that way!”
Bengaluru East And West Traffic
The viral discussion once again highlighted the imbalanced growth of Bengaluru. While East Bengaluru struggles with IT-led expansion, traffic bottlenecks and limited public transport, West Bengaluru benefits from more residential layouts, better road networks, and metro connectivity. The post has reignited calls for improved planning and public transport in the city’s tech-driven eastern zones.
