Bengaluru Tragedy: In a tragic incident, two migrant workers from Jharkhand were killed and one injured after a mound of mud collapsed on them in Bengaluru. Police said on Wednesday the incident occurred when the labourers were working on the foundation for a pillar in Siddharth Colony, Madiwala, on Tuesday evening. During the construction, a mudslide fell on three of workers, trapping them under the debris, they added.

Police said the victims have been identified as Raza Uddin Ansari (33) and Lal Madan (32). Saifullah (28) sustained injuries and has been undergoing treatment, they added.

Police, in a statement, said, "Under the limits of the Madiwala police station, we received a complaint at around 7.30 pm (Tuesday) that some labourers working at a construction site were trapped under the debris, and the mud had collapsed. When we arrived and checked, three people were trapped and they were shifted to the hospital."

Sarah Fathima, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Sarah Fathima said, Saifullah is stated to be out of danger, while the other two died.

"They are all natives of Jharkhand and had come here about three months ago to work at this construction site. A case has been registered and we will investigate what happened and how it happened," she added.

Nine Workers Killed After Portion Of Under-Construction Building Collapses

The Bengaluru incident comes to light amid outrage over the death of nine construction workers. They died in the building collapse at Ennore thermal power station in Chennai on Tuesday. All the victims were from Assam. The names of the victims are Munna Kemprai, Sorbojit Thausen, Phaibit Fanglu, Bidayum Porbosa, Paban Sorong, Prayanto Sorong, Suman Kharikap, Dimaraj Thousen and Dipak Raijung. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sadness over the accident and announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the families of the deceased from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the families of each deceased and ordered that steps be taken to transport the mortal remains to their home state.
