Bengaluru News: A Bengaluru-based bike taxi driver working for Uber and Rapido has recently gone viral on social media after revealing his monthly income of Rs 80,000-85,000. The revelation was made in a viral video shared on X by Karnataka Portfolio, where the driver shared his earnings to working tirelessly for up to 13 hours daily.
In the viral video, the driver shared how his consistent efforts help him to achieve financial stability. An onlooker, impressed by his claim, stated, "Even we don’t earn that much." The rider responded confidently, expressing the perks of his job, saying, "I’m my own boss. There’s no manager or office politics – just me, my bike and the city streets."

The viral video caption described it as a "classic Bengaluru moment," shedding light on the earning potential in the gig economy. Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma also weighed in, sharing the video on X and praising India’s growing gig economy. He stated that tech-driven platforms are creating millions of jobs and strengthening the local economy. Sharma proposed a more respectful term for gig workers, calling them "members of Indian Digital Services." He lauded their role in building a globally admired digital services ecosystem and creating a more inclusive and innovative India.

The viral clip generated mixed reactions online. While many praised the driver’s hard work, others questioned the feasibility of his claims. A user commented, "Much respect for working 13 hours daily. Inspirational." Another wrote, "This shows the power of Digital India, but at what cost to health and work-life balance?"
Sceptical users raised doubts about the figures. One user questioned whether the Rs 80,000 mentioned was gross or net income, while another wrote, "It’s hard to believe. Earning this much would require over 800 trips a month, which seems unrealistic in heavy Bengaluru traffic."
