Bengaluru Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday stated that Bengaluru will experience a significant dip in temperature in the upcoming weekend. It is forecast that the minimum temperature in Bengaluru on Friday is expected to be around 14.3 degrees Celsius. However, the weather department further stated that the city will experience cooler weather from January 17 to 19. 

It informed that the minimum temperature in this duration is likely to stay at 16 degrees Celsius. The city will experience a change in weather as the residents experienced warm weather during the Makar Sankranti festival. The IMD stated that the minimum temperature in the city over the past 24 hours was 16 degrees Celsius. However, it further stated that the lowest recorded temperature on Thursday was 14.5 degrees Celsius.

The IMD stated that there is a high chance of a dip in temperature in the upcoming days. “Over interior Karnataka, there is likely to be a fall in minimum temperature by 2-3 degrees Celsius from 17.01.2025 to 22.01.2025,” IMD stated in its forecast for the next five days. Earlier in the first week of January, the city witnessed record-breaking cold as the northern states experienced a cold wave and dense fog for several days.

The IMD stated that the minimum temperatures in Bengaluru on the first few days of the year went as low as 12 degrees Celsius. It further mentioned that the temperature further fell down in the night. The IMD records suggest that the lowest ever recorded temperature in Bengaluru was 7.8 degrees Celsius on January 13 in 1884.

Besides, the IMD stated that the northern states, including Jammu-Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, are expected to experience light rainfall and snowfall in the upcoming days. The weather department has also stated that several states, including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi-NCR, are expected to experience dense fog and a cold wave in the next few days.
