A woman in Bengaluru has been arrested for allegedly conning several women from her social circle out of crores of rupees, using flashy kitty parties and fake promises of doubling their money. The accused, 49-year-old Savita G, reportedly lured victims through what she dubbed a “paisa double offer”, claiming she had access to gold imports and high-return real estate investments.

Savita, a resident of Kirloskar Colony in Basaveshwaranagar, was arrested alongside her associate, Puneet P from Sunakadakatte. The duo has been remanded to five-day police custody by a local court.

According to police, Savita targeted financially well-off women by attending and hosting kitty parties, where she projected herself as a successful realtor, gold trader, and social worker. She claimed close connections with political bigwigs to boost her credibility and convince women to invest large sums of money in her supposed ventures.

“She reached out to women on social media, especially those with active social lives and disposable incomes. Savita claimed she imported gold from abroad and offered to double their money through real estate investments and business ventures," an investigating officer told Times of India.

At these social gatherings, she often spoke of discounted foreign gold, private television tenders, and exclusive property deals that guaranteed high returns. This built trust among attendees, many of whom ended up investing with her. Some paid in cash, while others transferred funds online.

“Many victims were convinced by her confidence and networking abilities. Some handed over cash directly, while others made online transfers. Puneet would then help divert these funds into gold purchases and household goods. In reality, she was quietly operating a chit-fund business in Basaveshwaranagar," the officer added.

Savita reportedly promised to deliver gold from the US at throwaway prices. Victims claimed to have handed her anywhere between Rs 50 lakh and Rs 2.5 crore. However, none of the promised returns materialised. Instead, she kept stalling, offering excuses to delay repayments.

Things unravelled when investors began demanding their money back after a year. As pressure mounted and payments never came through, nearly 30 women came forward to file complaints, exposing the fraudulent scheme.

Police also revealed that Savita had earlier been arrested in a similar case by Govindarajanagar police but was later released on bail. Despite this, she resumed her scam, which eventually led to her latest arrest by Basaveshwaranagar police.

An officer noted that Savita had shared photos with top politicians, including the chief minister and deputy chief minister, as well as various celebrities images she likely used to further establish trust among her victims.

Currently, at least two FIRs have been registered against her in connection with the scam.
