Bengaluru News: The Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE) has announced the construction of a new 9-kilometre link road at the BHEL-Deepanjali Nagar Junction. This project aims to significantly reduce traffic congestion between Nayandahalli and Kengeri, enhancing vehicle flow towards PES College and Hosakerehalli.
Once completed, the new road will allow commuters to enter at Deepanjali Nagar and bypass traffic signals at the busy Rajarajeshwari Nagar Junction, Bengaluru University and Pattanagere, reaching the Panchamukhi Ganapati Temple junction in Kengeri within just 20 minutes. The link road is expected to be operational in the coming months, as per The New Indian Express report

Initial 1.5 km Link Road To Be Toll Free
Motorists will benefit from the initial 1.5 km of the link road, which will be toll-free. This will allow users heading towards PES College Junction and Banashankari to travel quickly without incurring any charges.
The News Indian Express report quoted an official from NICE report, “Many motorists get caught in traffic along this route. Those trying to reach PES College, Banashankari or travelling towards Mysuru from areas like Chamrajpet and Vijaynagar often face delays. They have had to either navigate the Outer Ring Road, which is heavily trafficked or deal with traffic signals on Mysuru Road. With the new link road near BHEL and Deepanjali Nagar, it is possible to reach PES College Junction in under 10 minutes and Kengeri in 20 minutes.”
Currently, the journey from BHEL Junction to Kengeri can take up to 60 minutes during peak hours. The link road is set to change that, allowing for a quicker 9 km connection to the NICE Peripheral Road and onward to the Bengaluru-Mysuru Road via Kengeri.
Avoid Traffic Signals Between Deepanjali Nagar And Kengeri
By utilising this link road, motorists can avoid at least four traffic signals between Deepanjali Nagar and Kengeri. The official estimates that this new route could reduce traffic on the existing Mysuru Road by around 30 per cent, as vehicles will be distributed more evenly.
Easier Access To Bengaluru-Mysuru Highway
Additionally, once the 13 km project from Sompura is completed, motorists will have easier access to the Bengaluru-Mysuru access-controlled highway. This will be particularly beneficial for larger vehicles heading to the Bidadi Industrial Area, further alleviating traffic on Mysuru Road.
However, there are concerns about delays in the 13-km project due to land acquisition issues. NICE is prepared to offer compensation to farmers whose land was previously taken, but they are still waiting for site approvals from the Public Works Department (PWD). The Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) is ready to identify land, but progress has been stalled for several years.
