Amit Shah arrived in Patna today and is addressing a massive gathering in Lakhisarai. Lakhisarai comes under the Munger Lok Sabha constituency which is the home turf of JDU President and Lok Sabha MP Lalan Singh.

This is Shah's fifth visit to the state in nine months since his party was ousted from power in the state in August 2022 after Nitish Kumar broke ties with the BJP, bringing an end to the coalition government in the state.

While addressing a gathering, the Union Home Minister took a dig at CM Nitish Kumar calling him "Paltu Babu".

"Paltu babu Nitish Kumar was asking what was done (by the Centre) in nine years. At least have some regard for those with whom you sat and due to whom you became the Chief Minister. A lot of work was done by PM Modi across the country in these nine years," Shah said during his address in Lakhisarai.

Earleir today, responding to Amit Shah's visit, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said everybody is free to visit the state. Meanwhile, he evaded questions on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's strong pitch for Union Civil Code (UCC).
