Bihar Boat Capsize: At least three people were killed and as many as 18 missing after a boat capsized in Saryu River in Saran district, officials said on Wednesday. The incident took place near Matiyar village in Manjhi block of Bihar's Saran district this evening.

According to Saran DM Aman Samir, a total of 19 people were on the boat, 10 of whom are safe and seven are being rescued.

"We are at the spot and spoke to the people here. We also spoke with some of the people who were on the boat. They said that they used to go there for farming every morning and come back in the evening. They were 19 in number. As per the information available to us, 10 of them are safe, 2 died and 7 others are being rescued," Samir said as quoted by news agency ANI.

This was the second major boat capsize incident in the state in the recent past. On September 14, a boat carrying more than fifteen children capsized in the Bagmati River in the Muzaffarpur district. The incident took place when Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was in the district to review the progress of several ongoing projects, PTI reported.
