Bihar: Several irregularities came to light during the inspection of coaching institutes in Patna on Tuesday. An investigation has been ordered on the instructions of District Magistrate Dr Chandrashekhar Singh. Teams were formed under the leadership of sub-divisional officers who are verifying the registration and security of these institutes. They have to investigate on a total of six points and submit a report to the DM, jagran.com reported. The centres have come under radar following the deaths of three UPSC aspirants in Delhi's Old Rajinder Nagar IAS coaching centre. IAS aspirants Shreya Yadav from Uttar Pradesh, Tanya Soni from Telangana and Navin Dalwin from Kerala died after the basement of Rau's IAS Study Circle, being used as a library, got flooded due to rains in the national capital on July 27.
The team formed under the leadership of Sadar SDO Shrikant Kundalik Khandekar took stock of the conditions of coaching institutes in Naya Tola and Bhikhna Pahadi area. Patna City SDO, Danapur SDO Pradeep Singh also visited several coaching institutes and verified the registration of coaching, compliance with safety standards, building bylaws, fire exits, entry and exit doors, emergency handling arrangements.
Coaching Centres Being Run Without Registration
Many coaching institutes were found to be operating without registration. Almost all were found to be lagging behind in terms of fire safety. The width of the stairs of these institutes running in multi-storey buildings was found to be less than one meter. The gallery was also such that two people could not walk together at a time.
The SDO said that many irregularities have been found. In two weeks, as many coaching institutes as possible will be inspected and a report will be submitted to the DM, and necessary action will be taken at his level.
Coaching Centres To Be Closed If Standards Are Not Met
A six-member team has been formed at the subdivision level. The purpose of verification is to ensure that no untoward incident takes place and coaching institutes are running as per the provisions. At present, about three thousand big coaching institutes are being investigated. After this, the registration of small coaching institutes will be investigated. Institutes not following the standards will be closed.
DM To Hold Meeting With Coaching Operators Today
On the orders of District Magistrate Dr Chandrashekhar Singh investigation of registration and safety standards of coaching institutes in Patna has been started. Now the DM himself will hold a meeting with the coaching operators regarding security arrangements. On Wednesday, he will discuss various points with the operators and representatives of coaching institutes in the Collectorate.
Many officials including SSP, Municipal Commissioner, Sadar SDO will be present in the meeting.
The DM has formed a four-member team to check the safety parameters in the coaching institutes of the Municipal Corporation area. Under the leadership of Additional Collector of Disaster Management DP Shahi, Urban Planning (Municipal Corporation) Director Suresh Prasad, DPO of Sarva Shiksha Kumkum Pathak and Assistant Fire Officer Indrajit Kumar have been included in the team.
