Bihar Summer Vacation: The Bihar government on Wednesday ordered the closure of all private and government schools, coaching centres and Anganwadi centres across the state until June 8 in view of the prevailing heatwave conditions. The order will be applicable from Thursday (May 30). The order, issued by the Chief Secretary of Bihar, cited intense heatwave and loo in various parts of the state.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the state's crisis management group attended by officials of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the order said. Earlier in the day, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar directed the Chief Secretary to order the closure of schools due to intense heatwave conditions. The IMD has predicted the prevelance of heatwave conditions in the state for another three or four days.
Bihar Schools Closed: 'Temperatures Soaring Above 46 Degrees'
"For the past few days, most of the districts of Bihar state are in the grip of heat wave with unexpected intense heat. In some districts like Gaya, Aurangabad, Kaimur, the temperature is being recorded above 46°C. The situation is more or less the same in all other districts," the Chief Secretary's order read.
Bihar Heatwave: Order After Several Students Faint
The decision to close educational institutes and Anganwadi centres across Bihar came following reports of dozens of school students fainting in various parts of the state, including Sheikhpura, Begusarai and East Champaran, due to excessive heat.

Targeting CM Nitish Kumar over the incidents, RJD leader and former deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav had questioned his authority within the state government. Tejashwi also urged the Bihar government to take immediate measures to protect school students from the heatwave.
