Delhi Rains: Various parts of the national capital (NCR) witnessed light rains on Wednesday afternoon after temperatures in multiple places across Delhi and its surrounding areas crossed the 50 degrees Celsius-mark. The drizzle was expected to provide respite amid the sweltering temperatures across the national capital region (NCR). Earlier in the day, Delhi's Mungeshpur recorded a temperature of 52.3 degree Celsius, an all time record for the city.

Delhi Heatwave: Temperatures Lingering Around 50 Degree Celsius
On Tuesday, Mungeshpur and Narela, another locality in Delhi, recorded a temperature of 49.9 degrees Celsius. Delhi has been reeling under an intense heat wave for the past several weeks. The Delhi government-run LNJP Hospital has been witnessing a spike in the number of patients affected due to heatwave conditions.
"We have seen a high number of patients affected by the heat this week. Yesterday alone, we received nearly 10 patients who were affected by heat stroke," Dr Ritu Saxena from LNJP Hospital was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
Delhi Heatwave: L-G Orders Paid Breaks For Labourers
Delhi Lt Governor VK Saxena on Wednesday issued a direction, mandating that constriction labourers get a paid break between 12 noon and 3 pm in view of the prevailing heatwave conditions. The L-G said that the directive shall remain in force until temperatures settle below 40 degrees Celsius.

Delhi Water Shortage: AAP Govt Orders Jal Board To Check Misuse Of Water
Amid the scorching heat, Delhi has also been battling with a water shortage, which prompted the National Capital Territory's (NCT's) government to announce a penalty of Rs 2,000 for those found using potable water for wasteful activities like washing vehicles with a hose and using domestic water supply for construction and commercial purposes.
The Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government of Delhi on Wednesday said it has directed the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) to deploy 200 teams across the city to check water-wasting activities including overflowing water tanks.
