A dense blanket of fog enveloped Bihar skies on Wednesday leading to disrupted vehicular movement and delay of flights from Patna airport. The first flight from Hyderabad landed at Patna airport at 10:15 am. Even with skyrocketing fares operations of other airplanes were delayed by an hour and even around 80 minutes. Airport management authorities claimed that fights were delayed due to low visibility.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD), however, forecast a possible change in weather with light rains between January 2 and 4. Farmers have been advised to store kharif crops in a safe place.
In Bihar, the maximum temperature in 28 cities across the state including Patna witnessed a mercury dip.
The minimum temperature in Patna was recorded at 13.7 degrees Celsius, with an increase of three notches. Banka and Sabour in Bhagalpur district recorded a minimum temperature of 11 degrees Celsius.

An orange alert was issued by the Met department across the city at 8 am as visibility in many parts remained around 50 metres.
Trains are running late and there could be flight delays and cancellations, according to an official.
According to IMD colour codes, a ‘yellow' alert calls for authorities to be aware, an ‘orange' alert calls for them to remain prepared, and a ‘red' alert calls for most vigil and action.
As per the satellite images taken at 5.15 am, dense to very dense fog conditions prevailed across the national capital.
