Preliminary Report Of Bilaspur Train Accid
A preliminary railway assessment has flagged a possible "signal passed at danger" (SPAD) as the trigger for Tuesday's fatal collision between a passenger MEMU train and a goods train near Bilaspur station, officials revealed.
Sources indicate the loco pilot of the passenger train may have overlooked a red "danger" signal. The route section is equipped with an advanced automatic signalling system, sources added.
Bilaspur Train Accident
The crash occurred around 4 PM as the MEMU, en route from Gevra in neighbouring Korba district to Bilaspur, rammed into the rear of a stationary goods train between Gatora and Bilaspur stations, according to railway authorities.
Harrowing images from the collision site capture a passenger coach precariously balanced atop a goods wagon, underscoring the force of the impact.
Railway teams have mobilised full-scale rescue and relief efforts, with senior officers personally overseeing operations on the ground. The five injured passengers have been rushed to nearby medical facilities for urgent care.
Authorities are extending every support to affected travellers and have activated dedicated helplines for families seeking updates.
