Naidunia Correspondent, Baikunthpur | Chhattisgarh Police achieved a major breakthrough in the heinous crime in which three people, including a prominent local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Bharat Singh, popularly known as Lalla Singh, were burned alive inside a car by pouring petrol on them on the night of June 16. Police arrested four more accused in the incident, which took place in Naugai village, Sonhat block, Koriya district.
Four accused surrendered to the police, while one is still absconding. According to information received, Manoj Tripathi, Aman Tripathi, Ashutosh Tripathi, and Nishant Tripathi have surrendered. Earlier, Akshat Tripathi, Vishal Tripathi, Satyaprakash Tripathi and Mannu Tripathi surrendered.
Nine Accused Behind The Bar, One On The Run
Meanwhile, the Koriya police have arrested nine accused since the incident. One accused is still absconding. Police claimed that the absconding accused will be arrested as soon as possible. Police said a total of nine accused were identified in the Naugai murder case, of which eight have been arrested.
What Happened On June 16
A long-standing sand mining business rivalry between two families turned fatal for three men who were brutally attacked by a group of people in Chhattisgarh's Korea district. Two persons were seriously injured in the incident, which occurred in Katgodi village under Sonhat tehsil on Tuesday night, involving a truck, an SUV, and a sedan. The victims were travelling in two vehicles, including an SUV and a sedan, when they were allegedly attacked by members of a rival group.
As per preliminary investigation, the attackers repeatedly rammed the SUV with a light tipper truck, damaging the vehicle and jamming its doors, preventing the occupants from escaping. The SUV subsequently caught fire, he said. Eyewitnesses claimed that some occupants who attempted to break the vehicle's windows and flee were assaulted by the attackers.
