Naidunia Correspondent, Raipur | A case of assault, obstruction of government work, and death threats against a police team in an attempt to free a detainee under the National Security Act (NSA) was filed in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Lalla Sonwani, alias Tumman Sonwani, a habitual criminal detained under the NSA, was being takent to the police station when a group of people attacked the cops in the Gobra Navapara police station area of Raipur Rural.
Police registered a case under serious Sections of BNS against six named accused and others in this case. According to police, on August 6, the District Magistrate issued an order to detain Lalla under the NSA, who had returned home after being released from jail in an Excise Act case. A police team led by the station in-charge set out to apprehend him. Upon seeing the police, Lalla attempted to flee in his Scorpio vehicle, but was chased and detained.

Police Team Attacked
Police took the accused to the Community Health Center, Gobra Navapara, for a medical examination. It is alleged that Lalla's mother, his two wives, and supporters arrived there, pushed and shoved the police, abused them, and attempted to free the accused. When police were about to take him to Raipur jail, the accused tried to block the police vehicle.
Yash Sona, Sagar Kurre, Gaukaran, Daulat Adil, Khulesh Kumar Ratre, and others, riding in Lalla's Scorpio and four motorcycles, chased the police vehicle for approximately four kilometres. The police vehicle was surrounded and stopped on the main road near Dada Dhaba. The accused assaulted the police officers, tore their uniforms, obstructed government work, and attempted to free the accused from police custody.
Goons Threaten To Burn Police Vehicle With Petrol Bombs
In the FIR, police alleged that Lalla threatened to have the locals surround the police station, implicate cops in false cases, throw petrol bombs at police vehicles and burn them alive, and also threatened to blow up the police station, the Collector's bungalow, and the Superintendent of Police. Seeing the situation worsen, police officials were informed, and with the help of additional reinforcement, the accused was safely brought to the police station.
Case Registered Under These Sections
The Gobra Navapara police station registered a case against Yash Sona, Sagar Kurre, Gaukaran, Daulat Adil, Khulesh Kumar Ratre, Lalla Sonwani, his mother, both wives, and others under sections 115(2), 126(2), 132, 221, 296, 351(2), and 61 of the IPC and has begun investigating the matter. Police said other individuals involved in the incident will be identified and legal action will be taken against them.
