Madhya Pradesh News: A video has surfaced from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, showing a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader allegedly making derogatory comments and harassing a visually impaired woman. The video, which has sparked widespread backlash, captures a confrontation between the two, while police personnel are seen intervening to defuse the situation.

BJP Leader Harasses Visually Impaired Woman In MP

The video footage captures the BJP district functionary Anju Bhargava allegedly making derogatory remarks at the visually impaired woman, saying ‘she was blind in this life and would remain blind in the next as well.’

The BJP leader is further heard questioning the woman’s choice to wear vermilion while bringing a child among Christians. In the video, Bhargava allegedly grabbed the woman’s hand and engaged in a physical scuffle, prompting on-site police personnel to intervene and defuse the situation.

Tensions Erupt Over Alleged Forced Religious Conversion

The incident is linked to a large-scale protest that erupted on December 20 at a church in the Gorakhpur area of Jabalpur. Activists from various Hindu organisations gathered, alleging that visually impaired students were brought for forced religious conversions at the church.

According to an NDTV report, Bhargava was present at the protest site alongside activists from various Hindu organisations. The BJP leader and other protesters entered the church premises where the children and a differently-abled woman were seated.

The situation rapidly escalated into a heated physical and verbal altercation as shown in the viral footage, where Bhargava is seen engaging with the visually impaired woman. Activists from various Hindu organisations further alleged that the visually impaired students were brought to Hawabagh College to be "brainwashed" for religious purposes.

However, police officials have stated that there is no official confirmation of these claims so far.
