Union Minister of Civil Aviation Rammohan Naidu on Saturday provided details regarding the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad that killed at least 274 people. While addressing the media, Naidu stated that the tragic incident has shocked the entire nation. Naidu added that some crucial details are expected to be uncovered from the black box that was recovered on Thursday. Apart from this, Secretary of the Civil Aviation Ministry Samir Kumar Sinha confirmed that the pilot had sent a Mayday call; however, the aircraft lost contact with the Air Traffic Controller (ATC) within seconds.
While providing details, Naidu stated that the state and central government took the situation very seriously and teams from all the concerned departments were working on the ground. "The last two days have been very difficult. The accident that happened near Ahmedabad airport shook the entire nation. My deepest condolences to all the families who have lost their loved ones in the incident... I personally rushed to the site to oversee what needs to be done, what support needs to be provided, and that was the attitude of the government of Gujarat also," Naidu stated.

"The attitude was the same from the Government of India and the other people at the ministry also. Once we rushed to the site, we already saw the response teams from all the concerned departments were working on ground, actively trying to rescue whatever is possible, trying to cut down the fire and to move the debris so that the bodies can be sent to the hospital at the earliest," he added.

Apart from this, Samir Kumar Sinha stated that a multi-disciplinary committee has been formed by the government to examine the exact reasons behind the tragic accident. He further stated that the government has given three months' time to the committee to submit the report.
"The Committee will examine the existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines issued to prevent and handle such occurrences and suggest comprehensive guidelines for dealing with such instances in the future," MoCA had stated in a post on X
