Bokaro Gas Leak News: Information regarding a gas leak in Bokaro Steel Plant created an atmosphere of chaos and panic in Jharkhand's Bokaro on Saturday, April 6. As soon as the information about the leakage of carbon dioxide gas from the hot strip mill was out, employees and officers in the plant were asked to vacate the place.

There was a stampede for the exit as thousands of workers rushed to vacate the steel plant. However, the situation turned normal after sometime. It was reported that, in accordance with the predetermined schedule, maintenance work was being done on Saturday morning in the mixed gas pipeline of the Bokaro Steel Plant, which provides gas to the hot strip mill's re-heating furnace. There was no gas in the pipeline, and it was closed.

In the course of maintenance, cutting and welding work was done in the pipeline to replace a compensator. Naphtha, sulfur, and other combustible materials kept inside the pipeline caught fire and began to emit smoke as a result of the welding spark.

Through the pipeline, this smoke reached the hot strip mill, which resulted in chaos. Employees exited the plant via the CZ gate, main gate, and other gates.

However, according to BSL management, there hasn't been any gas leakage from the pipeline. There is no need to panic and the blaze has been put out, said the management. There are senior officials in attendance at the location. There were no injuries to any employees.
