A flight from Chennai International Airport to Dubai, carrying 286 passengers, was delayed on Tuesday due to a fake bomb threat, according to police.

After receiving an email threat about a bomb on the plane, security services performed a comprehensive examination of the international flight, which was set to depart at 10.30 AM on Tuesday, according to officials.

They said an inspection showed the threat to be fake and that the flight was cleared to continue to its destination.

In a similar incident on Monday, the Delhi airport got an email warning of a bomb put inside a Dubai-bound flight; the police investigated and determined that the threat was a hoax.

The email was addressed to the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) office at IGI Airport but did not include the airline's name or flight number.

“Necessary legal action has been taken and nothing suspicious was found,” said Usha Rangnani, Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI).
