A Delhi Police constable deployed for BRICS Summit 2026 security has come under departmental scrutiny after videos of him displaying firearms and recording Instagram reels from security locations surfaced on social media.

The constable, who was wearing a BRICS Summit 2026 identity card in one of the videos, was posted in the Delhi Police’s northwest district, officials said. The videos reportedly showed him displaying his weapons and recording footage from his security posts over the past few days.

The posts drew criticism on social media, with users questioning the appropriateness of sharing such content while security arrangements were in place for a high-profile international event.

Taking cognisance of the matter, Delhi Police initiated a departmental inquiry against the constable. Officials said he is also likely to be suspended from duty.

Constable Removed From BRICS Security Duty

The constable has been removed from the BRICS Summit security arrangements and sent back to the northwest district, senior police officers said.

He was earlier deployed at and around five-star hotels and other important locations linked to BRICS Summit guests. Officials said he is currently posted in the Bangladeshi Cell, where personnel conduct raids and gather information about foreign nationals allegedly staying in India illegally.

“A departmental inquiry has been initiated against him. He is also likely to be suspended from duties. He is posted in the Bangladeshi cell where officials conduct raids and/or gather information against illegally staying foreign citizens,” officers said on Sunday.

Tight Security Arrangements In Delhi

The move comes when Delhi is heavily barricaded for the 18th BRICS Summit 2026 held at Bharat Mandapam.

A traffic advisory was released by Delhi Police on Sunday, mentioning the parts of the city where VVIP movement would cause traffic congestion, and informing commuters to use public transport and detour designated routes instead.

Commuters destined for airports, railway stations and ISBTs were advised to commute with a substantial buffer in their travel time and have also banned non-destined commercial vehicles into Delhi.

Commuters opting for the airport have also been asked to commute using the Metro services, which have reported no delays so far.
